Beat the 4th January VAT Increase

2.5% may not be much of a saving on small appliances but its a worth while amount if you are buying something like a Range cooker or American Fridge Freezer Online prices of these appliances are just rock bottom so there is little or no room to offer any futher January discounts. So even if the Christmas delivery dealine has past as long as you order and pay your goods before 5pm on the 4th January you will only pay 17.5% VAT

As the Country thaws out (briefly) consumers are venturing out to do their Christmas shopping.  In the High Street Sony LCD are selling well with Sony’s generous VAT back promotion and 5 year guarantee.  Online Digital Radios, Coffee Machines, Food Processors  all continue to be popular Christmas gifts .
Last year the VAT increase created a last minute rush for American Fridge Freezers and Range Cookers as people rushed to beat the Vat increase on these large ticket items.  I remember being amazed last year at the sheer volume of these appliances we sold in the last few days of the year, but then again I need to purchase a bathroom suite do I do it now and save 2.5% or should I hope to get a better offer in the sales?

Feeling The Cold ?

So much for global warming, this is the second really cold winter in a row we’ve had. Remember the film “The Day After Tomorrow” when the global warming melted too much of the Ice cap and the fresh water upset the gulf stream plunging the planet into the next ice age. If only Jack Hall (climatologist) had told everyone to stock up on Electric Fires from O’Gormans everyone would have been fine.

Digital Radio prices are on the way down.

As the Christmas rush gets later every year  fierce competition from online retailers has forced profit margins of digital radios down to a pittance. Take for example the Pure Sensia  with a SSP of £249.99 This time last year the cheapest price you would have found on the web £235 as Christmas approached high demand and short supply push the minimum price up to £245.00. This year with ample stocks and low demand the online price has been pushed down to £179 That's almost giving it away. This type of price cutting is happening right across the board at the oven end of the scale the Roberts Elise which should be £50 is now only £38.00
