Digital Switch Over - Are You Ready?

There is now less than 200 days left before digital switch over in Oxfordshire. The Oxford transmitter will switch in two stages, on 14 September 2011 (Stage One) and 28 September 2011 (Stage Two). These dates are important as you will need to re-tune your digital equipment at each stage of switchover, in order to continue receiving all your current services and add any new ones that commence from Stage Two.

While around  95% of Oxfordshire households already have a digital TV in the lounge many households have still not up dated  their TVs in the Kitchen and Bedroom as well as their recording devices like Video Recorders and DVD Recorders. These older Analogue devices will not work after switch over unless they are connected to a Digital Set Top Box  If you are not sure whether your equipment is Digital or Analogue call into your local branch of O'Gormans for free advice.

If you need to replace any of those analogue devices please see our range of Small Screen LCD TVs  and Digital PVRs

4th January VAT Rise

Yesterday was the busiest day of the year as customers rushed to purchase electrical goods before the VAT increase. But then it is only the 5th January. 2.5% is not a great deal if your purchasing a radio or food processor but its an extra £30 - £40 on the cost of a Range Cooker or American Fridge Freezer. Where ever possible we have absorbed the VAT increase however the margins on some electrical appliances sold on line are so low that we are forced to pass it on.

Its not all dome and gloom as many manufacturers have reduced  the cost of their goods to encourage consumers to buy. Sony slashed the cost of their LCD  which has resulted in saving of up to £500 on some models.  There have great savings on Belling Hotpoint Stoves and LEC appliances.
